Sarcenet Cats and Kittens seeking loving "forever" homes

Before considering the acquisition of the Sarcenet cat or kitten listed below, read the "Adopting a Cat"  page to know more about our approach to assure that all our cats will be placed in the best possible homes and will enjoy happy, healthy lives. If you'd like references, feel free to contact some other breeders or my vet - all of whom have been in my home themselves.

Placement of cats

Depending on the age and personality of the cat, I sometimes require that they be placed (relatively) locally to assure that should there be problems, it is much easier for us to take them back. So far all of our cats have adapted wonderfully to their new homes, but we'd rather be safe than sorry. The same goes for living with children. As we have none of our own, our cats aren't used to them. Kittens adapt without problems, but I feel some of our older cats would be unhappy with so much activity, and when applicable have so noted in their descriptions.

Special needs

We do everything possible to assure the health and temperament of our cats, but they are of course subject to the range of normal feline ailments. As we believe full disclosure is essential for responsible breeders, any "special needs" are noted. These can range from simple idiosyncrasies to special health requirements. Any special needs noted on this page are what I consider to be minor issues that are easy to deal with (for example, requiring a special food). We do have some older kitties with more complex needs who would require an understanding home. If you think that may be your home, please see them on our Special Need Cats page or e-mail me.

One general note: I attempt to describe the personalities of the cats as they are here in our multi-cat household. They may be a bit different in new surroundings, i.e. a shy cat may become more affectionate, a loving cat a bit more independent or vice versa, etc. As always when dealing with living creatures - you just never know!

Pet vs. Show quality

All cats/kittens listed here are pet quality, unless expressly listed as "show quality". An important quick word about "pet quality". Some people ask about it and whether the cat has "something wrong with it". In a word, no. When breeding to a standard, we're breeding for cats that have a specific look to them, one which meets a written standard. It is VERY difficult to achieve! So pet quality cats may be too big or too small, too fluffy, have ears that are too wide, too narrow, too tight or too loose, etc. to meet the standard. These are wonderful, beautiful cats and often have the best personalities of all.

Straight-eared Curls are also a great consideration. They're beautiful cats - so beautiful that I've actually had people looking for a straight-ear over a curl ear. You still get that silky coat and great personality, along with a stunning cat (can you tell I have a soft spot for straight-ears?). Another bonus is that breeders tend to ask a significantly lower price for these babies.

Pricing

I don't like to quote prices on my site, because they can vary. However, I will say that by the time kittens leave here at 4 months, all major expenses have been paid for by us. This includes at least 3 trips to the vet for shots and full exams and one trip for their spay or neuter. Some breeders give their own shots, but we prefer our vet to do so as the kittens are fully checked over several times that way.

Whenever you're looking for a pedigreed cat - whether a Curl or any other breed - always take this into consideration. You may think you got a "good deal" by paying relatively little for an unvaccinated, unspayed or neutered purebred , but never forget to factor in the outstanding vet care, which can add up to hundreds of dollars. We feel that as reputable breeders, we should take care of all of these services prior to selling kittens and we do so.

Availability

Unless otherwise indicated as "on hold" or "reserved", all cats on this page are available to approved homes. Please check out our "Cattery News" page for any recent litters.
  • On hold: A potential owner is definitely interested in this cat, although there is no formal commitment at this time. These cats often become available again, so if you're interested please check back.
  • Reserved: A deposit has been received for this cat.

Rescue Curls

I've been having trouble with my server lately, so if you don't hear back from me, please re-send or call 512-716-0604.
I currently have several adult cats looking for forever homes. Please consider one of these lovely babies. I don't ask much for my older cats, just a wonderful home!

Sarcenet Bryan

Bryan - born in Dec 05 - is a beautiful young neutered blue tabby boy with the sweetest face you've ever seen. He's a very sweet, loving boy. He LOVES his brushing and will lay there for the longest time, purring and making biscuits. He's a bit shy around strangers, but very sociable and "dog-like" with people once he gets to know them.

Bryan is ready to go to his forever home. If you'd like more information on him, please email me.

RW, SGC Sarcenet Shiloh

Shiloh - born in Dec 05 - is a gorgeous, show quality black silver former breeding cat. He's been neutered and is ready to go to a forever home. He's super sweet and quite a mush. He's pictured here at 6 months. I'll try to get some more recent photos up of him soon.

Shiloh is ready to go to his forever home. If possible, I'd love to place him along with his brother Bryan. If you'd like more information, please email me.

Sarcenet Silent Sapphire

Sapphire is a chocolate tabby, straight-eared Curl retired from breeding. She's a young adult spay, born in February 2004.

Sapphire is truly one of the sweetest cats I've ever known! She's a bit shy around new people, but once she gets to know you she doesn't stay out of your lap. She's a TOTAL lap cat who will lie there for hours purring and making biscuits. She's also very pretty if I do say so myself :-) I'll try to get more pictures of her up soon.

Sapphire will be ready to go to her forever home around the first week of November. I'd prefer to place her relatively locally, but will consider options. I think she'd be OK with a young cat/kitten, not too sure about young kids and dogs. If you'd like more information on her, please email me.

RW, SGC, GC Phantasia Durangocurl of Sarcenet

"Rango" is a a gorgeous, top show quality retiree born Sept 20 2000. He hasn't been shown since his neuter so I can't say whether or not he'd take to showing, but he has stopped spraying and is back to his old sweet self. He's not terribly naughty and loves his tickles. He also has an enchanting "cooing" meow which is a delight to hear. I'd prefer to place Rango in a home without small children.

Rango is ready to go to his forever home. If you'd like more information on Rango, please email me.

More pics of Durango.
